👋

Welcome to my personal newsletter — a series of email notes from me, Tim Falls, to you, a community of people with whom I’m grateful to be connected.

I’ve considered writing a personal newsletter for years. In 2020, I finally found the inspiration to go for it, following my decision to go on a “social media diet” and with a supportive, encouraging nudge from some friends. (thanks, Casey!)

📝

My intention for this newsletter is to connect more regularly with family and friends and strengthen our relationships, by creating more opportunities to touch base with one another, through direct, private channel(s) of communication.

What’s in a Falls Update?

A “personal newsletter” inherently presents a risk of centering one’s self in their writing. While I don’t feel 💯 comfortable with that, I humbly acknowledge that a few people are actually interested in hearing what’s new in my life. So, I’ll share notable, life updates from our family, like “We moved (again)!”* or, “We adopted another puppy!”* or, “I’m working on this neat, new thing!” *note: these things haven’t happened…yet 😉

Beyond writing about me; I would like to write about things I care about. These things will likely involve any combination of community, climate, culture, consciousness, plants and animals, the meaning of life, and other things that hopefully provoke thoughtful curiosity and perhaps motivate healthy, collective action. Will it get “political” sometimes? Most likely; because politics are part of life, too.

💌

What about you?

An email sent from me to you is an invitation for you to send an email back to me. Conversations are more fun when they’re balanced, so please feel free to reply and/or comment and share what’s new with you, or your thoughts on something I’ve written about, or whatever’s on your mind. To create a safe environment for dialogue, I commit to listening with empathy, seeking to understand your perspective, suspending judgement, and practicing compassion and loving kindness to all beings. I also hope this commitment is reciprocated.

To anyone who decides to read every once in awhile, I’d love and appreciate your feedback, so I can gauge how this is landing and adjust my approach to make an enjoyable experience for as many people as possible.

Sound cool? 😃

The big “subscribe now” button is your button. ❤️

If you know someone whose interest may be piqued by this experiment in community, please feel free to share. (thank you!)
