Falls Updates
an occasional email newsletter to keep us connected
đ
Welcome to my personal newsletter â a series of email notes from me, Tim Falls, to you, a community of people with whom Iâm grateful to be connected.
Iâve considered writing a personal newsletter for years. In 2020, I finally found the inspiration to go for it, following my decision to go on a âsocial media dietâ and with a supportive, encouraging nudge from some friends. (thanks, Casey!)
đ
My intention for this newsletter is to connect more regularly with family and friends and strengthen our relationships, by creating more opportunities to touch base with one another, through direct, private channel(s) of communication.
Whatâs in a Falls Update?
A âpersonal newsletterâ inherently presents a risk of centering oneâs self in their writing. While I donât feel đŻ comfortable with that, I humbly acknowledge that a few people are actually interested in hearing whatâs new in my life. So, Iâll share notable, life updates from our family, like âWe moved (again)!â* or, âWe adopted another puppy!â* or, âIâm working on this neat, new thing!â *note: these things havenât happenedâŚyet đ
Beyond writing about me; I would like to write about things I care about. These things will likely involve any combination of community, climate, culture, consciousness, plants and animals, the meaning of life, and other things that hopefully provoke thoughtful curiosity and perhaps motivate healthy, collective action. Will it get âpoliticalâ sometimes? Most likely; because politics are part of life, too.

What about you?
An email sent from me to you is an invitation for you to send an email back to me. Conversations are more fun when theyâre balanced, so please feel free to reply and/or comment and share whatâs new with you, or your thoughts on something Iâve written about, or whateverâs on your mind. To create a safe environment for dialogue, I commit to listening with empathy, seeking to understand your perspective, suspending judgement, and practicing compassion and loving kindness to all beings. I also hope this commitment is reciprocated.
To anyone who decides to read every once in awhile, Iâd love and appreciate your feedback, so I can gauge how this is landing and adjust my approach to make an enjoyable experience for as many people as possible.
